Accenture Party

27 Jan

So, I am preparing my magical props (cards, rings, ropes, coins etc) for a close up magic gig I have tonight in Charing Cross, London for Accenture. This was booked through my usual agency here in Brighton. They are lovely.

My check list for a corporate entertainment magic gig:

- got map of venue

- got name of venue

- got mobile number and name of contact at venue

- got 3 packs of cards, rope, rings, coins, sponge balls

- and this is the important one, got something good to watch/listen to on boring train journey. Especially as it’s snowing in London, which will clearly mean 129812 hour delays!

I’m going up early as during my check I realised I was running low on rope, so will be popping into a sailing shop to get some more stock!

Party gigs are taking over my LIFE!

26 Jan

Sorry of the lack of posts, just been so busy with parties recently. Got one every day this week and two on Friday!

Going to be doing Accenture’s shindig on Wednesday in Charing Cross though, that should be a good one.

Magic at awards evening

This weekend I was booked to do close-up table-side magic for a large awards evening. I entertained 180 people with cards, coins, rings, ropes, and spongeballs. Hope you like them.

Magic? In Brighton? Sounds like me…

24 Jan

Last night was a great gig in Brighton. A magic birthday party at a lovely house in one of the posh squares on the front. I entertained the guests when the arrived and then between dinner courses did close up magic at the table to give the cook/wife a bit of breathing space. It was only 12 people there so I had a real chance to show them why I am constantly referred to as The Most Bloody Lovely Magician In Brighton.*

*By my cat. If she could talk. She thinks it though. I can tell.

Brighton rocks

21 Jan

Yes, I do love being a magician and living in Brighton. There’s no end of opportunities do amuse, amaze and entertain people.

Today, I went into Brighton town proper and there were some friends in a cafe. They called me in and asked me to show a magic trick to their pal who I didn’t know. Their pal was JUST sorting out the office Christmas party and after I finished my close up magic they booked me on the spot!

Brilliant timing, brilliant Brighton!

She said that last year they had a really naff mind-reader bloke who was kinda creepy and rude! She was told not to get another magician for this christmas party. But when she saw that I am not like most magicians, she was happy to book me.

Good Wednesday to you all.

Office party tips

19 Jan

When you’re booking a magician for your office party this Christmas here are a few things to bear in mind:

1) Book your magician for early on in the evening. This is for two reasons
a) people might not all know each other that well if it’s a large company and walk about, or ‘close up magic’, can get people talking.

b) Later on, when people are going to be drunk on the free booze, the magic will be lost on some people. Get them when they are sober!

2) Think about music Vs magic. Many times I’ve been booked to work a room the same time as a loud band. This means that I either have to shout to be heard, or perform silently. Not the best use of limited resources at a Christmas office party. Better to have a DJ who has been told to keep the volume fairly low and have the band on later when your corporate magic has been finished.
